One of the residential neighborhoods within walking distance of the downtown Orlando area, Eola Heights (or Lake Eola Heights as it is sometimes called) is another local area with a long and interesting history.  In fact, some of the buildings in this area played such a big part in local history that the area is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This helps to preserve the feeling of days gone by, giving homeowners the unique ability to live close to Downtown but feel like they live in a more relaxed, classic neighborhood.

Where is Eola Heights?

The Eola Heights area stretches North from Lake Eola to the streets just south of Park Lake. The generally accepted boundary of the area is East Colonial Drive to the North and East Robinson Street to the South, with Magnolia and Mills Avenues acting as the East and West borders of the neighborhood. Eola Park is close to another booming downtown neighborhood, Thornton Park, with plenty of hip restaurants and night spots to visit. It’s also easy to get to Downtown without spending too long in the car.

What Types of Homes Will You Find in Eola Heights?

One of the most famous features of Eola Heights is the diverse types of homes you’ll see as you travel through the neighborhood, some dating back to the early 1900s. This area was used in the late 1800s as an orange grove, and no plans were made to create any kind of housing beyond a few private residences. In 1895, plans for the land changed and it was converted to residential land. Over the years, homeowners, church groups and businesses built structures influenced by many different architectural styles, including:
