Go For a Walk: A Letter From Justin

Soooo, we are adjusting to life with 3 kids, but lately we have noticed that our 12-year-old dog, Cash, has been a bit neglected. It didn’t happen intentionally, and it wasn’t all at once. I’m sure many of you can relate. Our hands have been full, so walks with Cash have been scarce.

On a whim one night, I randomly suggested that we take Cash on a walk. Without skipping a beat, Andrew (my 2-year-old) piped up saying “what’s a walk?” This seems like a strange question, but I get it because it has been a while.

Surprised by the question, I described it to him as, “when you walk the dog around the neighborhood and let him poop in other peoples’ yard for a change!” [I have a unique ability of communicating with 2-year-olds.]

The night breeze was perfect with only a couple clouds in the sky. I can’t remember the last time I looked up at the sky seeing the stars so clearly. It was breathtaking and Andrew [and Cash] loved every minute of it!

On our way back to the house Andrew was saying “I love stars at night… I love sky at night… I love house at night… I love walks at night….” It looks like we will be adding this to our nighttime routine a little more often.

The moral of the story is that in the rush of life sometimes it’s easy to forget about walks under the stars. Go for a walk!
