Altamonte Springs

Altamonte Springs is a busy city north of Orlando. Popular for shopping and business, many young professionals and families call Altamonte Springs home. The city has hosted several large events recently, including their annual firework festival Red, Hot, & Boom. This major event takes place every July 3rd and draws over 100,000 visitors. As Central Florida’s largest Independence Day Celebration, Red, Hot, & Boom is known to present internationally known entertainers.

Things to Love: Residents from nearby Longwood, Casselberry, and Maitland regularly visit Cranes Roost Park, and Uptown Altamonte, the main shopping and business districts of the city, which feature a water fountain choreographed to classical, swing and contemporary music.

Fun Facts: Dr. Washington Kilmer of Cincinnati was the first to settle into the area around 1870 and named the area Altamont (minus the “e” from the present spelling). In 1882, the Altamonte Land, Hotel and Navigation Company gave the area the name we now know, Altamonte Springs. The name Altamonte is Spanish meaning “high hill”.

Northeast of Altamonte Springs, Casselberry is home to 17 parks and 30 bodies of water. Casselberry is also known for events! Residents and visitors alike will enjoy annual events including Jazz Festivals, Earth Fest, Rock N’ Roll  & Car Show, Spooktoberfest, Craft Beer & Blues, Rock N’ Run 5k and Food & Wine Fest.

Fun Fact: Casselberry features over 30 lakes and ponds, the largest being Lake Howell, the Triplet Chain of Lakes, Lake Kathryn, and Lake Concord.
